Why work with Caro

I'm Caro Syson, founder of Your Final Matters in Hertfordshire. I help people get their life admin and later-life planning organised, so the people they love aren't left guessing. Here's what I bring, how I work, and where my role stops.

35+ years in business

I've spent more than 35 years running and working in businesses, across healthcare, finance, property and software. That mix means I'm comfortable with paperwork, systems and money matters, and I know how to turn a tangle of information into something organised and usable.

I'm also the author of the Amazon bestseller Boss Your New Small Business.

I know this from the inside

I started Your Final Matters after helping my own mum in her 90s get her later-life planning in order. I saw how many strands there were to pull together, and how much it mattered to do it while she could still say what she wanted.

I've also trained as an independent funeral celebrant.

Workshops, talks and podcasts

I run practical workshops in Hatfield and online, and private workshops and talks for workplaces, community groups and organisations across Hertfordshire and beyond. I've been a guest on several podcasts talking about later-life planning, difficult conversations and getting your affairs in order.

In 2026 Your Final Matters won Gold for Best Business Start-Up at the Shining Star Awards and was honoured in the Best New Business category at the Best Business Women Awards.

What people say

People tell me they leave feeling organised and confident, with a clear list of what to do next. Read their own words on the reviews page.

How I work

  • Practical. You leave with actions and checklists (and a 60-page workbook on the half-day workshop), not a pile of theory.

  • Plain English. No confusing legal or financial terms.

  • At your pace. Small groups, one-to-one sessions, or a talk for your organisation.

  • Joined up. I help you get ready, so the time you spend with a solicitor or financial adviser is shorter and better used.

What I do, and what I don't

I provide education and practical organisational support. I'm not a solicitor or a financial adviser, and I don't give legal, financial or tax advice. Where you need professional advice, I'll tell you, and point you to the right kind of professional.
